Host contact info: Blake Wheelock (b.wheelock@onevirginia2021.org)

2017 is an important year for redistricting reform! OneVirginia2021 is organizing a Lobby Day to ensure a strong voice is heard early in the legislative session. Advocates are invited to meet with state legislators and encourage them to support fair redistricting reform!

Before OneVirginia2021’s Lobby Day starts on Monday, January 23, 2017, we will hold a conference call where our expert lobbyists will explain important bills in detail and what needs to happen on Lobby Day to ensure their success. We will release more information about this conference call soon. We will also have packets of talking points and materials for volunteers the morning of and will send these same materials to you via email. In short: you’ll be prepared!

The main point of Lobby Day is to meet with your legislators and have your voiced heard! OneVirginia2021 will set up your appointment (since we can coordinate with the others from your district). If you want to do it on your own, just email Blake the details (b.wheelock@onevirginia2021.org).

General Assembly Building
201 N 9th Street

Richmond, VA 23219
This is THE sub-committee of the House of Delegates that hears most of our bills. They will be meeting the Monday of our Lobby Day.
Our bills will be heard!
We would like to make a good show of force and would love to have everyone in attendance, but understand the hour is early, which is why we are making this optional.

City Hall
900 E Broad Street, 2nd Floor
Richmond, VA 23219
Registration begins in the Richmond City Council Chambers at City Hall. We unfortunately do not have the ability to eat breakfast in the Chambers, we will be providing breakfast bars and snacks once you leave (around 9am), but if you need to eat earlier than that please eat beforehand.

8:00 – 9:00 a.m.  | Issue Orientation and Meeting Preparation
City Hall
900 E Broad Street, 2nd Floor

9:00 – 11:30 a.m.  |  Lobby Meetings with Legislators (we will have appointments made for you)
General Assembly Building
201 N 9th Street
5th Floor West Conference Room
Richmond, VA 23219
Begin legislative visits at the General Assembly Building. We will have OneVirginia2021 staff and volunteer leaders to help you through this process. Depending on how many people are at the General Assembly Building that day there may be a long wait to get in. We can never tell for sure, but please be prepared to stand outside in the cold.

Appointments are still being made, as the legislators get back to me with appointments I will begin to let everyone know their times and other details.

Virginia Capitol Building
1000 Bank Street

If you would like to attend the gallery of the House of Delegates or the Senate for a group introduction, please go to the Bank street entrance to the Capitol. We will proceed through security and arrive at the gallery doors to enter the gallery of the House of Delegates or gallery of the Senate.

11:30 – 2:30 p.m.  |  Lunch, Networking, and Debriefing
LOCATION TBD
We have outgrown our original space! Because of this I am working furiously to get us a new space. But rest assured it will be within walking distance of the Capitol. Once at the location we will eat lunch (donations are very much appreciated), hear from you about your experiences, debrief on the day, and talk about the next steps for OneVirginia2021 and how we move forward.
