Making a push to change the drawing of legislative districts

Advocates for removing politicians from the process of drawing the boundaries of legislative districts have been pushing for such reforms since the 1980s. But they’re hoping that public support for nonpartisan redistricting is growing too strong for lawmakers to ignore.A state House panel reviewed a plan last week to overhaul how state legislative and congressional districts are drawn. Similar bills have been introduced by state Rep. David Parker, a Monroe County Republican, and state Sen. Lisa Boscola, a Lehigh County Democrat.
