Media Advisory: OneVirginia2021 Launches Constitutional Amendment Campaign with March to the State Capitol
March Forth initiative will include a day of training sessions for advocates
and speakers from Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians
RICHMOND, VA – Non-partisan redistricting advocacy organization OneVirginia2021 will host advocates from across Virginia as they launch their biggest grassroots campaign to date, the March Forth campaign for a constitutional amendment to end gerrymandering in Virginia.
The day of launch events will take place in Richmond on Sunday, March 4, and will include a march to the state capitol, training sessions and a speaking program that will include remarks from OneVirginia2021 Executive Director Brian Cannon, Delegate Glen Davis (R-Virginia Beach), Delegate Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke), Libertarian Party of Virginia Chairman Bo Brown and others.
“It’s fitting that we have speakers and activists from every political persuasion joining us, since this issue is truly bi-partisan in every state across the country,” said Cannon. “Our hope is that by launching this campaign in a multi-partisan way, leaders from both parties in both houses of the Virginia legislature will move towards a constitutional amendment to end gerrymandering once and for all, so that voters can pick their representatives, and not the other way around.”
