Allen becomes advocate for redistricting reform

February 06, 2019

(CHARLOTTESVILLE – WINA)   A man who’s been a local delegate, a congressman, and a Governor and U.S. Senator devoted much of his weekend to lobby for redistricting reform.   George Allen made it clear Saturday he wants a new approach to redistricting  to be in place for use in 2021.

For that to happen, the General Assembly needs to approve a proposed amendment during this session, and then pass it again next winter and submit it to voters for ratification in November 2020.   Allen warns if the ball doesn’t start rolling this year, the process that’s currently being used  to create districts for use through 2030.
